I am always amazed when I think about how many cells we are made of.
30 Trillion cells, all working together to keep us going.
30 000 000 000 000. That's a lot of zeros.
But what amazes me even more is the fact that the amount of bacteria living with us out numbers us about 10:1.
300 000 000 000 000 bacteria live with each of us.
And we couldn't survive without them.
There are so many studies coming out about the microbiome, and how important it is to us.
They are critical. Essential. Lifesaving.
We have known for a long time that our microbiome help with immunity.
We have known that the microbiome helps with digestion.
But newer studies are now coming out about how important the microbiome is to our mental health; specifically to help calm anxiety.
Here's a cool fact: a large portion of our nervous system is located in our digestive system. Remember when you got butterflies in your tummy last time you were nervous? That was your nervous system at work in your tummy.
But the big question is, how do we keep these guys topped up?
One great source is fermented foods. Eat your yoghurt, kombucha and sauerkraut.
They should become your best friends.
Start a garden. Eat lots of fresh organic produce.
Make mother nature happy.
