The average person needs 1g of protein for every kilo of body mass.

This isn't much.

It translates to a person of average weight, about 150lbs, only needing about 70g of protein. 

Good quality protein is vital for many functions in our bodies from keeping our immune system functioning to transmitting signals from cell to cell to rebuilding new cells to the obvious muscle strength. 

In the western world, when we think of protein, usual suspects come to mind first: eggs, poultry, fish, tofu and red meats.

There is a quote, "If we are each unique, aren't we all the same?"

No idea who wrote it, but for some reason it speaks to me. 

While the quote itself is flawed, the underlying message is clear:

Each of us is different in our own way, and that unifies us because we each have unique qualities to share with the world.

There are a lot of reasons why the flu becomes so prevalent during these dark, cold months.

Last year I finally convinced my husband to try yoga with me. 

While I wasn't a regular, I loved it and knew he would too. 

As we sat up from Savasana at the end of class, I eagerly looked over and asked him how he liked it.

January 2008 was a life changing month for me. 

It was when I finally discovered why I was so extremely exhausted.

With a three year old and a brand new baby at home, there were more days than not that I wasn't able to get off the couch to do more than feed and change my kids.
